BIOGRAPHY
Ross Fettes is a Scottish bass-baritone and WNO Associate Artist, he recently graduated from the International Opera School at the Royal College of Music (RCM), London, where he studied under Graeme Broadbent. In the first year of his Master of Performance degree, he studied with Brindley Sherratt. Ross was a Stephen Roberts Scholar, supported by the Stephen Catto Memorial Scholarship Award, as well as a recipient of scholarships from the Countess of Munster Musical Trust and the Josephine Baker Trust.
He previously completed his Bachelor of Music with Honours at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where he studied with Iain Paton.
Ross’s operatic experience is wide-ranging, with recent roles including:

· The Conductor in Barnum’s Bird (RCM)
· Colline in La Bohème (Hurn Court Opera)
· L’Arbre in L’enfant et les sortilèges (RCM)
· Zuniga in Carmen (Carshalton Opera)
· Superintendent Budd in Albert Herring (St Paul’s Opera)
· Chorus in Der fliegende Holländer (Grange Park Opera)
· Frank Ford (cover) in Sir John in Love (British Youth Opera)
· Immigration Officer (cover) in Flight (RCM)
Ross has also performed in a variety of opera scenes at RCM, taking on roles such as Snug (A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Leporello (Don Giovanni), Budd (Albert Herring), and Panglossian (Candide).
He covered the roles of The Usher and Hugo Cheeseman in Scottish Opera’s double bill Trial by Jury and A Matter of Misconduct, and appeared in their 2019 national tour of Amadeus and the Bard.
From 2015 to 2020, Ross was a member of the Scottish Opera Young Company, performing in productions such as Frogs, Orpheus and Eurydice, Opera Sparks, Dido and Aeneas, and The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari. He also took part in a masterclass with Nicky Spence.
An experienced concert and oratorio soloist, his recent performances include Handel’s Messiah with the Mayfield Festival Choir and Mozart’s Requiem with the Hogarth Singers.
Competition successes include:
· Highly Commended in the Molly Robb Prize for Young Singers (RCS, 2018 & 2019)
· Winner of the Agnes Duncan Trophy and the Forbes Morton Memorial Award at the Glasgow Music Festival (2017)
